District level MSDP committee meeting held
KHONSA, Jul 5: The district level meeting of the MSDP committee was held at the conference hall of Tirap DC yesterday in which all the HoDs actively participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Arunachal Legislative Assembly Speaker Wanglin Lowangdong urged all the executing agencies to plan properly and carry out the schemes efficiently in the interest of the local people.
He asked the HoDs to utilize the funds judiciously adding that the schemes executed must directly benefit the people.
Tirap DC Kamlesh Kumar Joshi asked the HoDs to elucidate on the progress made so far under MSDP and appealed them to ensure that the schemes were implemented properly and that they were monitored efficiently. He warned that no lapses whatsoever would be tolerated.
The HoDs while giving detailed reports on MSDP in their respective departments, expressed some of the bottlenecks and minor roadblocks while implementing the schemes under MSDP.

Intensive checking of ILP ordered
ITANAGAR, Jul 05: Taking serious note of the influx of ‘outsiders’ to the state without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP), the State Government has ordered for intensive drive for checking of ILP throughout the state.
In an order today, Chief Secretary H K Paliwal directed the Deputy Commissioners to carry out the intensive drive, particularly taking into account that no person without proper ILP issued by competent authority is found in the state. Those found without ILP should be deported immediately after taking due action by putting special emphasis on checking of foreign nationals, the order added.
It may be mentioned that such drives are conducted by the state government in regular intervals, but this time, it has been stressed for intensifying the operation in order to ensure that no unscrupulous people get into the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The Chief Secretary has further directed for immediate compliance of the order and asked the DCs to submit a report on the action taken by July 15 next. DIPR

Dree celebrated with pomp and gaiety
ITANAGAR, Jul 05: Dree, one of the major festivals of Apatani community was celebrated with pomp and gaiety throughout Arunachal Pradesh.
At Dree Ground, Papunallah in sate capital, Minister Finance, PWD & Planning, Chowna Mein attended the celebration as chief guest. While conveying his greetings to the Apatani community of capital complex on the occasion, he said “Festival are for merry making and enjoyment. The celebration of such festivals has become all the more imperative in recent times, as it introduces the younger generation to our customs and folklore thereby encouraging them to not only take interest but actively participate in the preservation of our rich culture”.
He further said that our identity is rooted in our culture. If we lose our culture we lose our identity. Hence each tribe in Arunachal should maintain their culture while maintaining the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity’. ‘Our culture our pride’ should be the mantra of all the tribe in Arunachal. He announced package of Rs 50 lakhs for the improvement of Dree Ground.
Parliamentary Secretary Agriculture, Likha Saaya said that agriculture is the main area where we need to emphasize with the use of new technology. One must not forget his or her roots and endeavor to preserve their respective culture. One must learn from each and every tradition in order to progress. He also added that ‘Love is more powerful than hatred’
MLA Techi Kaso also extended his greeting to every person present in the festival. He informed that during his span as Chief Patron he had cooperated with the community and assured to extend similar support in future.
In order to encourage education the meritorious students were felicitated by the Apatani Career Guidance Forum Academic Award.
The festival was later followed by the cultural programme and mega Daminda dance, Community feast was also enjoyed by the people along with traditional games and sports.
Dree is a fertility festival observed by the community for bumper crops and family and social welfare.
On the occasion ‘Dree Souvenir’ and book on Apatani artifacts written by Roto Tadi was released by the Mein. A weekly newspaper ‘The Arunachal Herald’, published by Nani Kojeen was also released by guest of honor Likha Saya while a ‘The Ritual Version of Apatani’, a book by Mihin Kaning was released by MLA Techi Kaso.
The people of Hong village also celebrated Dree at Hanoko with traditional gaiety in befitting manner.
Addressing the people as chief guest on the occasion, Power and Panchayat Minister Tanga Byaling exhorted the Apatani brethren to celebrate the festival irrespective of religious differences and preserve their traditional culture.
On the demand for creation of a separate community development block for people of Niichi, Hiitii and Hari villages, the Minister assured people to take up the matter at government level.

It may be recalled that former Lt Governor H N Haldipur after learning that one of the villages in Ziro was gutted to ashes on his visit few days later had found to his surprise that almost hundreds of houses destroyed were rebuilt. He had termed this community spirit unparallel and worth emulating, which the Apatanis have maintained and that has stood them in good stead in their life.
Apatanis, mostly inhibiting the Apatani plateau, has carved a niche for themselves in every walk of life by dint of sincerity, hard work, perseverance and their industrious nature and received accolades from all quarters.
A colourful programme by young and old in their best traditional attire punctuated the celebration that proved as to how Apatanis had guarded their culture zealously.
Pleasant breeze blew from the valley covered with floating clouds as the sun played hide and seek.
Earlier reading out the mythology of the festival, CDFC vice chainman Dani Yubbe said that Dree was celebrated at common Dree ground since 1967 with July 5 as the Dree day though the festival was originally performed at Biirii village, located between Hari and Hong village. Withstanding the impact of modernity, Dree is performed in its original form since generations throughout the course the tribe’s migration from iipyo supung to miido supung to finally sillo supung (present Apatani Valley).

Tree plantation to beautify RGU campus
RONO HILL, Jul 05: A tree plantation program was organized in Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) campus under Institute of Distance Education (IDE), RGU initiative and university authority support here today morning.
In total, 300 rubber and 100 flowering saplings were planted in the university campus by the students of the IDE.
“We are also planning plantations in front of other academic blocks, where it is possible, in a planned manner to enhance the beauty of landscape of the university, Prof. Mibang, who planted the first sapling, said.
The Vice Chancellor informed that the plantation was not a part of the University policy but an idea to enhance the beauty of university landscape.

Panchayat coordination meeting resolve to protect wildlife, check deforestation
NAHARLAGUN, Jul 05: In a landmark decision, Palin Anchal Samity under the chairmanship of Kyoda Rana, Anchal Chairperson, in its first coordination meeting at Palin Nyokum Hall on July 2 last resolved to impose fine of Rs.50000 or imprisonment of two months for killing wildlife and water species and intentionally causing afforestation in the area. All Panchayat segments should have a uniform guidelines to protect wildlife, water spices and check deforestation the meeting resolved.
Expressing concern over lapse of so many projects in the area, it resolved that all concerned executing departments should speed up and complete uncompleted projects and schemes of the area. Due to absence of govt. officers at their posting places developmental works are hampered, the meeting observed and resolved that necessary disciplinary action against absentee officers should be initiated.
Anchal Chairperson Kyoda Rana, while presiding over the meeting highlighted the various Schemes of state and central Govt. and sought the cooperations of the members and the officers for early and effective implementation of the schemes without delay. Expressing concern over the absentee government officers at their place of posting, Rana asked them to report back within one week and attend the next coordination meeting.
Palin Zilla Parishad Member Rido Meena suggested all PRI leaders to cooperate with the officers and staff. She also appealed the elected members to be united and cooperate among themselves and the local MLA without whose support and blessings no proper development can take place.

Solve the transportation problem

Through the columns of your esteemed paper, I as a parent of the VKV Vivek Vihar school going children sincerely request to the principle VKV and the Bus owner as well to amicably solve the problems of children who are facing acute pain and trouble in the present transportation system.
In the last academic year an amount of Rs. six thousand five hundred only was charged against each pupil of P. sector Itanagar for transportation. The Bus usually comes via Raj Bhawan and pickup the children of P. Sector without any inconvenience. But it is unfortunate to learn that this time, the same bus does not ply in the same route, as a result of this parent and children are facing acute problems.
During this academic year due to hiking of fuel and demand of Bus owner, we have paid 9000 against each pupil as transportation charge, despite paying our hard earn amount for the convenience of children but bus owner does not live up to the expectation of parents and children . The Bus merely pickup the children at O point Mithun gate, whereas same VKV and other private school vehicle daily comes via Raj Bhawan and pickup the pupil. But our paid vehicle does not ply on the same road and which made every parents mentally agitated, why the particular bus is not plying. These rainy day and scorching heat children are facing another extra burden. We take children from P sector to O point Mithun gate in the morning and the evening we are compelled to pay 50 daily for auto fare merely to pickup school returning children from the O point Mithun gate. And what went wrong with the Bus owner? Since P sector is VIP road no any traffic related problems are there till date. We also brought this problem to the Bus owner and learned principal for solution but no action till date.
In the above fact we the parent sincerely request principal VKV Vivek Vihar and Bus owner to address children and parents’ grievances as saying goes charity begins at home and please help us to help you.
